I use assemble to order. Can my sales staff use this to see at a glance if there’s enough materials in inventory?

Yes. When an item that is assembled to order is sold, Business Central creates the assembly order in the background. The Availability Indicator on the sales line will directly show if all required materials are available. When the quantity of the sales line is changed, the Indicator is updated as well.
